  • Set Clear Goals: Define specific, measurable objectives for AI implementation that align with your company’s overall strategy. If your company strategy does not involve AI yet, consider pivoting and starting a timeline.
  • Build a Dedicated Team: Assemble a team with expertise in AI, data science, and change management. This should include both technology change management as well as human resource change management.
  • Invest in Training: Equip employees with the knowledge and skills to work effectively alongside AI. (Pro-tip: Consider gamification solutions to make this more fun and less ominous.)

  • Foster a Culture of Innovation: Encourage experimentation and exploration of new AI applications within a controlled environment. Give teams some simple boundaries and encourage lots of practice and playing with the new tools.
  • Embrace an Agile Approach: Implement AI in phases, continuously learning and adapting based on results. Keep your costs low and risks manageable; avoid the temptation to “throw money at the problem” then forget about it.
  • Prioritize Ethical Considerations: Establish an AI ethics framework to ensure responsible development and deployment. This is a good opportunity to put your company’s “core values” into a systemic structure that will ensure greater governance.
